1:18 Minichamps Bugatti Veyron
To start off, there are 2 types of 1:18 scaled models of the Bugatti Veyron. The Autoart version and the Minichamps version. This review will be for the Minichamps version. In real life, the Bugatti Veyron is one of the fastest production cars in the world. The model, therefore, should be a superb model. However, the model is not that good.
However, there are some good things about the model. First of all, the 2 tone paint job is very good. There are little flakes of paint in the colour that really help to make the model look good. Another thing that is helping is that the stance of the model is very good. The brakes are done nicely with the word “Bugatti” clearly shown on it. In the front storage area, Minichamps has replicated the struts that hold it up very well. It looks very good. The area is carpeted and Minichamps have also put a very nice sticker that seems to look like a certificate or plaque of some sort. The interior is not bad. It is a carpeted interior which features some very nice seats. These seats have some carbon fibre detailing on the back of the seat. This is a nice touch by Minichamps. However, the interior lacks detail, the dials in the centre console are not labelled and look poor. Although the speedometers are detailed well as some form of compensation. Moving out of the interior, there is some carbon fibre at the bottom section of the door sill that is well done. Hats off to Minichamps for making carbon fibre detailing on their models looks so good. The fuel filler cap on both sides of the car is well replicated with the “B” logo shown clearly. Both sets of lights are nicely done with the bulbs shown clearly. The exhaust has loads of depth and detail and looks very good.
However, the model has many negatives. On the real car and the Autoart model, there are 2 spoilers/air brakes. However, Minichamps has seemed to forget this part and thus, the model looks extremely poor at that part. Secondary, the engine has a severe lack of detail and depth. This is very poor for such an expensive model.
On the Autoart model, the company has been able to replicate the real car by having a removable engine section which allows the engine to be seen in much more depth. Finally, although the vents are cut out but they do not look good, they look very unrealistic. In conclusion, i think that this model is very poor for it being such an expensive model.
Final Scores
exterior- 7/10
interior- 5.5/10
little details/ features- 5.5/10
value- 4/10
Total- 22/40
